Emotional Processing: A 7 Step Framework
Emotional blocks are protective mechanisms. Often unconscious and long-standing, they form in response to emotional pain that once felt too overwhelming, too unsafe, or too unspeakable to face directly.
Over time, these defences can harden. What once shielded us may begin to trap us. Processing becomes harder, reactivity replaces reflection, and emotions become distorted, transformed into strategies, control, avoidance, or projection.
This module explores common emotional blocks from a psychoanalytic perspective. What matters most isn’t perfect labelling, but recognising these patterns in yourself with honesty, free from shame.
